About Me

I am an Asian girl who loves to find art in everything that comes my way. I am passionate about making my own music from the bottom of my heart. I enjoy capturing nature's beauty with my Digital SLR camera. Oh, and if I haven't mentioned it yet, I graduate from nursing school on December 21, 2008. Yeepeee!!!

Student Visa Reinstated!!!   (My Blog)

By Karla Salazar
My dearest family,
God has answered all our prayers and my student visa was re-instated. I found out on September 15 and was so delighted. I was so excited I screamed so much! Thank you so much for your prayer and support. I had quite a lot of people who prayed for me. I have one nursing teacher from two semesters ago who prayed for me and had me on her prayer list since I was in her class. Her daughter started to ask her why I was in  her prayers every night and she said it was because she was bringing my visa reinstatement to God's hands. Today I get to go to her office and share the good news with her in person! I am very overjoyed! I can now work in the hospital and earn some money. Thank you again, for your never-ending prayers!

Love,
   Karla

Chai Tea Recipe   (My Blog)

By Karla Salazar
If I'm not mistaken, it has been a little over a week since my last post. I have been extremely busy with my nursing exams. Two weeks ago, I had a nursing exam. Last Friday, I had another test exam. This coming Monday, I also have another nursing exam. Sleep deprivation is not unheard of in the career I have chosen. :) However, most of the time, I have found that the benefits outweigh the losses. There's nothing like the feeling of having accomplished and done so much after a long day at the hospital.
Speaking of long days at the hospital, I must tell you about my new favorite tea flavor. Tea is not my usual blog topic, but believe you me, Chai Tea is absolutely amazing! The most caffeine I can take is the amount I get from Chai Tea. My body does not allow me to drink Cappuccino, coffee or caffeinated sodas since for me, they cause unwanted cases of headaches and mild dizziness. Well, if you ever get a chance to get a box of Chai Tea, and want to try my favorite Chai Tea recipe, feel free to try the little concoction I got from the box I got from Publix (grocery store). It's made by "Celestial Seasonings" (brand name) and the specific Chai Tea flavor is called "Teahouse Chai: Chocolate Caramel Enchantment".

Hot Chai by the Cup
Pour 3/4 cup boiling water over one tea bag in a cup. Steep 4 to 6 minutes. Remove tea bag. Four authentic chai taste, add 1/4 cup hot milk and sweeten to taste.

Iced Chai by the Glass
Pour 1/2 cup boiling water over one tea bag in a heat-resistant container. Steep 4-6 minutes. Remove tea bag and stir in sweetener while tea is hot. Fill a glass with ice, add 1/2 cup cold milk and slowly add chai.

Enjoy your tea, everyone! Let me know what your favorite tea flavor is and how you like to flavor and prepare them. I'd like to try other teas sometime. After all, one thing I have recently learned about myself is that I have developed an interest in drinking tea. :) Have a great week, everyone!

Get Well Soon!!!   (My Blog)

By Karla Salazar
Let us keep JR and Mama in our prayers this week. Let's pray that Mama's vertigo doesn't come back and JR's flu (or what seems like a flu) goes away. Here's something for JR and Mama. Mama, I wish I wasn't so far away from you so I could deliver this and a hug in person. I hope this will suffice for now. I hope this brightens both of your day. We are keeping you in our prayers.

"Come close to God, and God will come close to you." - James 4:8

My New Part Time Job   (My Blog)

By Karla Salazar
Boy, do I have great news! This morning I started working as an accompanist for a singer who's working on songs to audition for plays or the Broadway. She's very much into the arts and theatrical stuff and we scheduled to have a music session today, which went absolutely great. She is going to be paying me and will be needing to practice again with me. I am thrilled about my new job since I am absolutely free on Wednesdays and I could use a little income.

My singer is actually my former clinical instructor. She was my instructor for OB clinicals and she and I had been trying to get our schedules straightened out so we could schedule a practice session together. Since she did not have a piano, we practiced at her bestfriend's house - her bestfriend just happens to be a voice teacher! The moment I met her, she asked how much I charged and briefly explained how difficult it is to find pianists.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but I do know this is something I could do for some income. It wouldn't be every Wednesday ofcourse, only when there are no upcoming exams and my schedule allows it. Who knows! The voice teacher is already very interested in having me play piano for her as well. If things go well, I'd like to work something out with her so I could take voice lessons. I would LOVE THAT! Besides, playing the piano is just about the easiest job there probably is (in my opinion) - I get to sit and do what I love without having to worry about patients. It could be my escape, my place of bliss, my source of income!

Well, gotta get back to school work. I love you all!

Memorial Day and the Outlet Mall   (My Blog)

By Karla Salazar
Ahhhh.... It feels great to relax and unwind after a day of constant walking and standing. I spent my Memorial Day with Jos and Rickie. JR had made plans to spend his time with his friends so we decided to split up for the day and be with people we haven't seen and spent time with in a while. What with our busy work/school schedules it's been rather difficult to set aside time for friends. Rickie's best description of today was "...there has been an eclipse!!!" since it's very rare for both him and Jos to get a day off at the same time with either me and JR free! We took advantage of our free schedule and took time together. We went to Ikea, stopped by DSW shoes, had lunch at the Elephant Bar Restaurant (which has a contemporary twist on mainly Thai food), and then went to Pier One, Marshalls and the new and improved Prime Outlets near the Mall at Millenia. We stopped by Under Armour to say hello to Josleann's former co-workers. We then went to Rue 21, BCGM, the newly-opened and first-ever Victoria's Secret outlet (which was really huge and surprising packed with Asian people)...we also went to Juicy Couture, Kenneth Cole, and a few other stores. Our last and final stop was Starbucks. Rickie wanted to get a hot drink, Jos wanted to have her ultimate pumpkin loaf which was absolute moist and yummy...and I got my favorite Tazo hot tea.

So here I am, it's 9:03 PM and I'm getting ready to hit the books and work on some homework. I have a clinical database due by midnight tomorrow and a homework due by 11 PM tomorrow evening. Pray that I finish them both tonight so I won't have to worry about them tomorrow.

I miss you all, my family!!! I cannot wait to see you next month! Thank you for your continued support and prayers. I will get through this summer with God's help and your prayers! I love you all!!!
